Our Services

The ONICCIMA BEST unit renders a wide range of business development services to members and non-members. These trainings cover several areas including (skills & cognitive), Business Clinic and Business Information Services.
Some of the activities are as follows:

Mentoring Skill Programme

The Entrepreneurship Mentoring Programme is a Corporate Social Responsibility assumed by the chamber. The scheme is such that helps successful business entrepreneurs to become mentors to young and/or potential business owners.

The programme is a big business nursery field were potential business owners are nurtured, trained and equipped with the tools that would enable them succeed in business while developing entrepreneurial mindset in the youths.
Since the inception of this programme, quite a large number of mentees have been graduated and a good number of them are succeeding in their various enterprises.

Dual Vocational Programme

As part of the chamber’s efforts to ensure world class vocational training for youths; a dual vocational training programme that equips the youths with technical/vocational skills from where our industries can fetch from to satisfy their thirst for vocational skills. The programme focuses on Industrial Mechanics, Industrial Electronics, Technical Facility Management and Office Administration.

Developing The Capacity of SMEs

The chamber in its bid to develop the capacities of SMEs has come up with training programmes which are targeted for sectors human capital development. Areas covered include General Management, Marketing Sales, Human Resource, Client Service, Project Management, Workplace Productivity, Quality Assurance in Organisation, Personal Management, Leadership and Corporate Governance, IT Programs including Microsoft Products and Cybercrime, Communications, Research and Business Writing Skills amongst others.
The ONICCIMA has been able to train over a hundred participants since this training programme began hence positioning it as a training institution recognized by the buyers of business development products in Nigeria.

Collaboration

The Chamber enters into a meaningful collaboration with notable international and national organization in an effort to provide entrepreneurial business development skills and services towards the development of a vibrant Small and Medium Enterprises sector.
The Chamber collaborated with the Central Bank of Nigeria to conduct programs like the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises and a research focused study on issues of double taxation. The goal of the study was to understand the challenges with the view to proffer solutions.

Domestic Trade Opportunities: The Chamber’s functions here borders on the following;

  • Location of Sources of local raw materials for manufacturing outfits, as well as markets for manufactured goods.
  • Providing a forum for reaching out to potential customers and clients.
  • Accessing members to the public sector institutions, thereby facilitating mutual relationship between our OPS and the public sector, aimed at achieving better investment environment in the state.
  • Facilitating genuine businessmen’s application for business visas for overseas trips, through the issuance of letters of introduction to Embassies and High Commissions in the country.

 

Business Advocacy: The Chamber engages in advocacy measures in the following ways;

  • The Chamber ensures that public policies are favorable to business by engaging in proactive advocacy with the relevant public sector institutions.
  • Through policy analysis, the Chamber analyses public polices and from time to time, presents position papers on such policies to relevant government agencies, so as to ensure favorable business laws and regulations.
  • The Chamber regularly issues objective comments and press releases on current social economic and political issues in the state and the nation.

 

Trade Exhibition: Promotion of business exhibitions and trade fairs have become one of the most important functions of the Chamber since 1987. This is achieved within the framework of the popular Annual Domestic Onitsha Made-In-Nigeria Trade Fairs being organized by the Chamber every year in the State.

Trade Missions and Liaison: The Chamber undertakes trade missions within and outside the country for members of the OPS from time to time. The Chamber also always liaises with commercial sections of numerous Embassies and High Commissions operating in the country, including non-governmental bilateral and multi bilateral business organizations and international agencies. Avenues for mutual collaborations between them and our OPS are continuously explored.

 

Legal Aid Services: The Chamber has a legal aid unit that handles common issues and problems that militate against smooth operation of business and industrial activities in the state.

  • Mobilizes the business community and galvanizes the attention of the governments and relevant partner agencies where necessary.
  • Consistently focuses on efforts aimed at creating better/conducive environment where the OPS will operate smoothly, with adequately manageable overhead costs.
  • Assists members in the application processes and securing certifications from regulatory bodies such as ECOWAS Trade Liberalization Scheme (ETLS), National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control, Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON) and Certificate of Origin (CO).
